Brussels, 27 July 2010 – The European Commission announces the launch of “Access●City Award”, the first European Award for Accessible Cities. This annual award aims to highlight the European cities that are taking the most effective and innovative action to improve their accessibility for disabled citizens.

Three West Country businesses have been shortlisted for the first UK tourism award recognising attractions with access for disabled visitors. The new Rough Guide to Accessible Britain Awards named the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, alongside the South Devon Railway and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
Responding to popular demand, the ENAT website has now been equipped with the Google on-line translation tool which allows site visitors to choose one of 52 languages with a simple mouse-click. The instant translations are made by machine, so the quality is less than one would expect with human translators. But we hope this will prove useful. Give it a try!
Belgian, Bert van Driel became a wheelchair user in 2007. However, he wanted to remain active. Bert realised that active wheelchair users need to carefully plan any activity. During this process, he noticed that most on-line information is not accurate and outdated. Bert started the non-profit organisation "Access on Wheels" in 2009 as an independent forum by and for wheelchair users.
The ENAT Code of Good Conduct label can be downloaded from this page. The format is low resolution, intended only for digital use (for example on your website). There are also two banners with the text: "We have signed the ENAT Code of Good Conduct", in landscape and portrait formats.

Another aim is to support organisations providing nature tourism services in their development of accessible environments and services. In addition, an objective is to launch strategic and persistent development for evaluating, instructing, and classifying accessible nature tourism.

A museum lover who has been deaf since she was an infant, McNally hopes her company will make cultural outings a more enjoyable and accessible for everyone, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
