  • Holidays in a Wheelchair

A selection of holiday properties/services that have genuine wheelchair access ... I have had many holidays over the past few years in my wheelchair; sometimes the facilities are good, sometimes they are not. Many places boast that they are 'wheelchair friendly' but on arrival you find that there is a step up to the shower (which may as well be a wall), or that a large part of the property is inaccessible to a wheelchair. Sometimes the accommodation is great, but there is nowhere else to go for a fortnight!! My aim is to put together a selection of properties that cater for someone who has the ability to transfer to a shower-chair/commode and a bed, but nothing else. I can recommend a couple of places myself, but welcome any information from people in a similar position.

  • Sage Traveling

Providing comprehensive accessibility information so that disabled and elderly tourists can enjoy traveling throughout Europe. Sage Traveling provides you with detailed accessibility reviews of popular European destinations. I have compiled this information based on visits to over 40 cities in 11 European countries in my wheelchair. In order to fill in the gaps of my own experiences, I've also spent hundreds of hours researching accessibility in Europe to create a systematic, comprehensive compilation of European accessibility information. On SageTraveling.com, you will find information on accessible hotels, accessible tourist sights, and accessible public transportation. The comprehensive nature of this website makes it an excellent source of information on disabled travel to Europe. - John Sage

  • Connect Culture - Building an Inclusive World

Do you travel? Go to a capital city for a change. Do you fancy the big city - the bright lights with the cosmopolitan cultures, different cuisines, wonderful museums. But will you know whether you can access the places you want to go? Is access an issue? It may be for yourself, for someone in your group, family or friends - where do you look for accessible accomodation, places to visit, eat and shop? Perhaps you need to go to that conference, attend that meeting or exhibition - to London, Paris or Strasbourg. We are focusing only on these 3 cities at the moment. We can help you find the right hotel, choose the restaurants so you don't spend time to trek a restaurant for your favourite cuisine, get theatre tickets etc. We make sure that they are accessible and meet your needs!
