#SDWC2022    #SmartValencia2022

Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Smart Tourism Destination model promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Valencia, which has been named European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022 by a jury from the European Union specialised in accessibility, sustainability, digitalisation, cultural heritage and creativity, will be hosting this World Conference on Smart Destinations, a meeting point for the world’s leading tourism experts, which will be focussed on the five pillars that comprise a smart destination - governance, sustainability, innovation, technology and accessibility.

This pioneering tourism model in our country, has, since its inception, sought a more efficient and sustainable management of destinations, an increase in tourism profitability and a greater competitiveness of the Spanish economy, applying technology and innovation to destinations to improve the accessibility of their inhabitants and the quality of life of their neighbours.

The Conference will be an open forum for discussion on the opportunities and challenges facing tourist destinations, on the solutions required to continue being competitive and sustainable, and on how technology and innovation applied to the tourism sector are generating structural changes that have been establishing a new business environment alongside tourism intelligence.

For this, public administrations, the business sector, researchers, academics, technology centres, civil society, local agents and universities from all over the world, will come together to analyse and build the tourism model of the 21st century, sharing knowledge, forming alliances and advancing their understanding of the key elements of smart tourism destinations.
