Invitation from the ATHENA Project Manager

“Tourism for all – good examples from home as well as abroad”

The conference is implemented within the project of the Human Resources and Employment Operational Programme called “ATHENA” in cooperation with the European network for accessible tourism (ENAT). This important international organization operating in many European as well as non‐European countries is our key project partner, and the confirmed presentations of its leading representatives at the conference guarantee the high quality and topicality of the speeches and papers.

The topic of accessible tourism is not a common issue in the Czech Republic. Despite this fact there are many initiatives, activities and concrete examples of good practice that show the significance of increasing the accessibility of tourist destinations, infrastructure, transportation, information and other tourist services.
Accessibility for all, i.e. also for clients with a permanent or temporary impairment, must reach all areas of tourism. This is the only way we can create tourist destinations accessible to all.

By comparing the European and domestic trends, and by presenting the selected solutions we would like to inspire directly or indirectly all subjects that influence the development of tourism to search for new methods, ways and forms of how to increase the accessibility of tourism in our country within their scope of authorities.

I believe that this international meeting will eventually contribute to a rich exchange of experience, and will be an important step in carrying the topic of accessible tourism throughout the Czech
Republic.

I am looking forward to meeting you in Ostrava!

Project Manager
