Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRMs), including persons with disabilities (PWDs), have the right to travel in comfort, safety and dignity. The EU-Funded project, INCLAVI - Inclusive Aviation, is rolling out 40 free, online training courses for professionals and students on how to serve these travellers, contributing to accessible travel for all, in Europe and beyond. The INCLAVI Consortium, including IATA, IGA - Istanbul Grand Airport, ENAT and universities and vocational training centres in Finland, the Netherlands and Turkey, has developed the INCLAVI Curriculum under the Erasmus+ Vocational Education and Training Programme.

Coordinated by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, this online learning curriculum is designed to strengthen awareness and competencies in accessibility and inclusion across the aviation passenger journey.

The first 28 courses are currently hosted on the Haaga-Helia Online learning platform, with an additional 12 courses coming this autumn. The courses are available free of charge to all interested learners, educators and industry professionals.

What the Course Offers

  • A comprehensive European Training Curriculum on Accessibility and Inclusion for the Aviation, Airports and Travel Sectors, consisting of 40 concise modules
  • Includes both "basic" courses and specific courses aligned with "passenger journey touchpoints" — from booking the flight, at the airport, on the flight, and through to arrival and travelling on from the destination airport.
  • Microcredits are awarded for each completed course, based on course length and estimated completion time.
  • Case-based and research-informed content covering a wide spectrum of accessibility topics, including physical, sensory, cognitive and invisible disabilities
  • Designed for training of industry professionals and students in educational institutions seeking to build more inclusive practices in aviation and tourism
  • Developed collaboratively with PRMs, PWDs and professionals, by accessibility experts, universities, VET institution, airports and the airline industry across Europe

Guidance Notes are provided, describing how trainers, tutors and other educators can "pick and mix" the INCLAVI Courses that are appropriate to students or professionals, based on the knowledge and skills-sets that are required. The online content, can be used as a "stand-alone" training resource or as a supplement to class-based instruction.

After completing each course, learners can assess their knowledge in a self-assessment quiz, and obtain a certificate where their mark is displayed.
