Italian Government Launches PR Campaign for Accessible Tourism

The new campaign for accessible tourism – Italy, Open for Everybody – was presented at the International Meeting on Accessible Tourism (MITA) today, March 22nd, 2013.

Flavia Maria Coccia presented the campaign. Coccia is the Coordinator for the Mission Office for Enhancing Italy’s Image, a branch within the Prime Minister’s Office.

The campaign was wanted in part by Italy’s current Minister for Tourism, Sport and Regional Affairs, and will be communicated via Italia.it, the Official Website for Tourism in Italy. The objective is to present the latest advances towards handicap-accessibility for tourists in Italy, on both a national and international level.

White Paper 2013 English cover imageDuring the event that hosted European institutional representatives and international operators, the Coordinator also presented Italy's first English-version White Paper on Accessible Tourism. Make It Accessibile - First White Paper on Tourism for All in Italy, 2013 contains recommendations, indicators, and useful guides for understanding the tools for developing this aspect of tourism. It is formulated particularly for public administrators, trainers and instructors, politicians and other interested groups.

MITA and BIFA (Buy Italy for All) are two fundamental movements within Gitando.all, an event realized in collaboration with Village for All (V4A). Gitando is the first salone in Italy and Europe dedicated to accessible tourism and sports, especially for persons with specific psychophysical, mobility, alimentary and similar needs, and for their families.
