AFNOR Workshop: Accessibility for Disabled People to Transport and Tourism Services

13.2.2008 Brussels. Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR) and CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, invite ENAT members to a workshop on accessibility standards for Transport and Tourism services.

Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR) and CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, invite ENAT members to a workshop on accessibility standards for Transport and Tourism services.

The workshop will be held in Brussels on Wednesday 13th February 2008 between 10 am - 5 pm. There will be an open discussion regarding "accessibility for tourist places and transportation for disabled people and people with reduced mobility".

There will be presentations on the different positions of the stakeholders and the debate will be opened up in order to demonstrate the possibilities for the use of standards. The highlight of this workshop will be the presentation and discussion of a proposed action plan containing suggestions / recommendations for the follow-up, based on the debate. The current agenda is as follows:

1. European standardization system: "a contribution to dissemination of good practice" (DG Employment and CEN)
2. Meeting customer rights & needs: "how we can focus on the rights and needs of disabled people?". (Organizations representing elderly and disabled people)
3. Examples of good practices in Europe to share.
4. Contribution to the development of the tourist and transport industry in Europe: "How can business maximise market opportunity and help for accessibility?" (Organizations representing the tourist and transport industry)
