A European Commission "flagship" initiative in support of the Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030.
The AccessibleEU is a resource centre on accessibility, working on the areas of built environment, transport, information and communication technologies and policies in order to ensure persons with disabilities’ participation in all areas of life on an equal basis with others.

Purpose of AccessibleEU
- Build the capacity on accessibility in EU countries.
- Support the implementation of the European Union legislation on accessibility.
- Connect stakeholders responsible for implementing accessibility rules in the EU.
- Create a common European one-stop-shop on accessibility.
- Train excellent professionals on accessibility.
What will AccessibleEU offer?
Online library on accessibility
The Centre will offer direct links, databases, information about standards, guides, studies, good practices and support materials on accessibility.
Networking
AccessibleEU is putting together a community of practice comprising accessibility and disability experts.
Accessibility training
AccessibleEU will offer workshops, online trainings and mutual learning events, among others, on different accessibility topics.
Accessibility monitoring and surveillance
AccessibleEU will provide support to monitor compliance with EU legislation across sectors in each EU country.
Studies
The Centre will carry out one study per year on a selected topic on accessibility in Europe.
Events
AccessibleEU will organise altogether 88 events per year that will be held at European and national levels in online, in-person and hybrid formats.
Awareness-raising
Annually, there will be 1 European-level awareness-raising event, 2 in big EU countries and 1 in medium and small EU countries.
Training
AccessibleEU will offer annually 2 workshops and mutual learning events at a European level, and 1 in big, medium and small EU countries. Topics include but are not limited to accessibility of:
- Built environment
- Transport
- ICT
- Policies
Additionally, a series of online trainings on targeted accessibility topics will also be offered once a year.
Networking events
There will be 1 EU level networking event, and 1 in each Member State.
