The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published the world’s first standard on accessible tourism, ISO 21902 Tourism and related services – Accessible tourism for all – Requirements and recommendations. This is an international standard offering guidelines to ensure access and enjoyment of tourism for all on an equal basis.
Airports have a long standing track record of caring for the most vulnerable passengers and visitors. With this new guidance, they are taking proactive steps to address the needs of passengers with non-visible or less visible disabilities.
Accessible travel advocates in Germany, together with the German Aviation Association have updated the recommendations on accessible air travel. The only difference to the first edition is the addition of the respective Special Service Request (SSR) Codes to each disability to avoid misunderstandings.
