The Fundación Handisport project was created in Mallorca thanks to the initiative of a group of people who wish to provide solutions to some of the problems involved in integrating people with disabilities into our society. This not-for-profit organisation, which will allocate 100% of its income to fulfilling Fundación Handisport's goals, has been created as the way to accomplish this initial generic objective.
Handisport has conducted an analysis of their present and future needs in order to achieve the integration of people with disabilities into society. This analysis shows that there are many social initiatives that provide a temporary solution to certain needs, but lack continuity over time, which is why we considered the possibility of conducting sport activities on a regular basis throughout the year for people with disabilities. Therefore, we plan to take advantage of Mallorca’s climate and the proximity of the different sport facilities located in the municipality of Calvià and vicinity to run courses all year round.
Handisport organises various sports. including riding therapy, blokart, golf, hiking, 4 x 4, canoeing, water-skiing, sailing and diving.

Blokart, an activity that is virtually unknown to the general public, consists in sailing on land. It takes place on a very safe tricycle equipped with a sail that provides a high degree of personal satisfaction. By making the necessary adaptations, Blokart can be enjoyed by any user regardless of degree of disability. It enables completely independent individuals to enjoy a team sport.
In the summer of 2011, HRH the Princess of Asturias visited Fundación Handisport where she held a meeting on the practice of adapted sports and the promotion of tourism in the Balearic Islands.
The event was attended by the President of the Balearic Government, Jose Ramon Bauza, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Carlos Delgado, the government delegate in the Balearics, Ramon Socias, our president Cristina Martín Ortega, the founder of the Foundation Handisport, Rafael Winckelmann, the manager of the foundation Gonzalo Bernal, and the director of Golf Maioris Hector Llanza.

During the workshop we informed the Princess of Asturias about the projects carried out by Handisport and its impact in the field of accessible tourism promotion after which we had a demonstration on the practice of various sports we do.
From the Foundation Handisport we want to give our sincere thank you to HRH the Princess of Asturias, to all the authorities, sports clubs, sponsors, volunteers, participants and instructors who, with their effort and dedication have made the presentation of the Foundation to Doña Letizia was a complete success.
