Madrid, 1 February 2013.

The workshop on “Accessible Tourism on Greenways” is organised jointly by the European Greenways Association (EGWA) and PREDIF, the Spanish Representative Platform for People with Physical Disabilities.

The workshop forms part of the Greenways4tour Project, funded by the European Commission’s General Directorate of Tourism. The aim of the project is to promote and raise international awareness of European greenways as excellent facilities for cyclists, walkers and people with disabilities, and to greatly enhance sustainable tourism choices in Europe.

Outstanding examples of greenway best practices and, more specifically, those relating to accessible greenways, will be presented during the workshop, as well as the European Greenways Observatory, currently being developed.

Greenways are non-motorized infrastructures which are safe, easy and accessible, and very suitable for people with disabilities. This is an aspect on which the “Greenways” project places particular importance, hence the joint organisation of the workshop with PREDIF.

At the workshop PREDIF will present the new tool for mobile phones, Tour4all, developed with the support of the Vodafone Foundation, and they will be coordinating a round table on accessible tourism.
