Pantou.org - The European Accessible Tourism Directory

The Pantou Accessible Tourism Directory was established initially as a data collection tool for a European Commission study of the supply of accessible tourism in Europe in 2014. It lists tourism suppliers who are able to offer accessible tourism services to customers with specific access needs, older persons, people with disabilities, families with young children and those who have a long-term health condition. Since the end of March, 2017 the Pantou Directory has been opened up to include accessible tourism suppliers based in any country - not only those located in Europe. Suppliers may register free of charge.

Mission

  • To build up a comprehensive listing of suppliers who are providing services to enable "Tourism for All", initially in Europe and, since April 2017, worldwide.
  • To promote accessible tourism suppliers in Europe and around the world
  • To contribute to the development of accessible tourism supply in European Union Member States and other countries.

Description

Pantou is the Greek word for "everywhere". The website presents an on-line register of tourism suppliers offering accessible services for guests with disabilities, seniors, families with small childrens... or any other specfic access needs.

This new online tool aims to build up a whole directory covering every kind of tourism service, as a service to National Tourist Boards and the public sector, professionals, NGOs, accessible tourism communities - and visitors.

Suppliers who are listed on Pantou provide a wide variety of tourism services, including accommodation, facilities, transport, tours, venues and attractions that are designed to be inclusive and accessible for people who have a disability, long-term health condition or other specific accessibility requirements.

To be listed with Pantou, tourism suppliers must indicate the type of services offered and the particular target groups they can serve.

Suppliers must also give a reference about the accessibility of their services. This reference may be either an accessibility information/auditing scheme or an access labelling scheme to which they belong.

Suppliers who are not members of an accessibility information scheme are required to complete a Pantou 'Access Statement' which describes the most important facts about their services.

Visitors will be able to search for suppliers and services using a simple or advanced search tool. While Pantou is in "beta" stage the search tools are still under development.
